John as a Professional

I am an Embedded Software Engineer with 8 years of industry experience developing software for ARM based systems. Additionally, I am also experienced with architectures such as Microchip PIC and Atmel AVR, single board computers, and design custom hardware from time to time. It's been a few years but have some experience writing Verilog for Altera FPGA's.

My many hobbies and interests include IoT, Home-automation, mechatronics, control systems, and machine learning 'at the edge'. I am skilled in developing satety-critical software, real-time systems, hardware interface and drivers, as well as digital circuit design and 'board bring-up'. From requirements to prototype and everywhere in between, I can do it all.

John as a Person

In my free time I enjoy working on projects and tinkering. Much of my relaxation time is spent working on projects similar to those you will find on the 'Projects' page. When I'm not 'making something', I enjoy playing board games, 3D-printing, home-brewing, barbecuing, finding some twisty roads on my motorcycle, sailing, or otherwise being active. Though, my favorite thing is when I'm spending time doing any of these with family and friends.
